Making the best of the wait. Grandma-EV, August 16, 2026August 16, 2026 Finding things to do. Friday, 8/14This was a pleasant but unremarkable day. We did camp chores. Laundry, shopping, cleaning. We drove into Gypsum. Hit some stores and had dinner at a new brewery. Steve, of course, bought a T-shirt. The brewery was supposed to have a pizza restaurant attached. It turned out it was not yet open, but there was a very good Mexican Food truck in the parking lot. Saturday, 8/15We discovered that there is a bike trail that runs right in front of our RV park.We pulled out the brand-new e-bikes and headed East on the Eagle Valley trail. It was beautiful. It was the first time for the dog to be in the bike seat. She did really well, though she whinned if I got too far ahead or behind. In town, we found a drive up coffee truck in a food-truck court. So, we got iced lattes and sat on the benches to drink them before heading back. It was about 14-miles round trip. I was sore! Iced lattes!Bree, passenger princess!Catching up! Beautiful view from the trail Later that afternoon we drove into Vail to play tourist. I could really tell we were at a higher altitude, 8,105 ft! I was huffing and puffing. Vail was a tourist trap, but fun. I felt very underdressed. Everyone was lookin’ very fancy! We had lunch, took pictures, bought a magnet. We collect them. I bought a Vail hat. I have WAY too many hats. See the picture of the covered bridge at the top. Vail, COMore Vail Daisy Chain charging. We have been keeping the truck charged by daisy-chaining if off the Pebble. The Pebble is connected to a 50 AMP outlet. We’d much rather be on the road DC fast charging as we move toward Canada.. Sunday, 8/16Still here on the Eagle River somewhere on I-70. We went for another e-bike ride, this time we turned the other way out of the campground. We went East. We thought we were going to get all the way to the next town but the trail ended. We only went about 9 miles. Still, it was a very nice ride. Second ride on the trail.Steve had a coupon and wanted to stop at a distillary that has a tasting room but we were too early. He might go back later today.I think that’s it for today. We picked up some rib eye steaks at a butcher shop last night and we plan to grill them outside for dinner. Yum. We just got some bad news. The Pebble tech will not be here until Tuesday! We were hoping to get back on the road tomorrow, Monday, afternoon.
